Alessandro d'Episcopo Trio
Where improvisation creates connection
The Alessandro d’Episcopo Trio is an established European jazz piano trio devoted to storytelling, interaction, and joyful improvisation.
Led by pianist Alessandro d'Episcopo and based in Switzerland, the trio—featuring bassist Luca Sisera and drummer Elmar Frey—has developed its musical identity through more than two decades of collaboration.
Rooted in the jazz piano trio tradition of Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, and Chick Corea, the group moves naturally between surprising arrangements of jazz standards, original compositions, and ancient Neapolitan songs, always with an emphasis on conversational improvisation.
Over the years, the trio has appeared at international festivals and venues across Europe and beyond, including The Widder Bar (CH), Mada Jazz Car in Antananarivo (MG), MIDEM (FR) and Sorrento Jazz Festival (IT).
At the heart of the trio’s music is a focus on connection — between the musicians on stage, and between the musicians and the audience — creating performances that feel intimate, responsive, and alive in the moment.
